About Us
We launched Wheelfreedom in 2007 having experienced the problems of hiring a quality wheelchair first hand. When trying to hire a wheelchair for a relative we were amazed to see how the market failed to provide a quality and convenient solution.
Mobility hire tended to be offered as a small part of a business; therefore resulting in very high prices, poor customer service, old stock, waiting lists and hirers often being encouraged to purchase equipment rather than being offered a sensible hire option.
Our research showed that potential customers often have very little experience of wheelchairs and therefore want to find a reliable, easy to use service which they know will provide a modern, well maintained product at a sensible price with first class customer service.
Having seen such a need in the market we met with all the major manufacturers and partnered with Sunrise Medical due to their high quality of products and the huge number of usability and safety tests all their wheelchairs and other products go through.
In 2007 the Wheelfreedom service was launched, with the new to market Sunrise Medical Breezy Moonlite wheelchair, offering the qualities mentioned above as well as next day delivery.
Having received a huge amount of positive feedback, please see our
testimonial page, a lightweight elevated leg rest wheelchair, bath lift, knee trolley and scooter were added to our product range as well as offering a next morning delivery as standard. More recently we have expanded our offering to include children's wheelchairs, heavy user wheelchairs and tilt in space wheelchairs.
Since launching we have provided over 10,000 wheelchairs to the public and also now run managed solutions for the health sector.
