The Bora (also known as the Spectra XTR3) is the newest member of Invacare's best-selling Spectra range of affordable configurable powerchairs. Featuring a crisp, refreshed design as well advanced LiNX controls, it is a highly-compact reliable chair, ideal for use both indoors and out. The Bora offer a choice of either the affordable Standard seat, or Invacare's Modulite seating system that can be set up to your needs, with further options such as powered lift, tilt and recline allowing you to build a powerchair that does what you want.

The Spectra range has long been the preferred wheelchair of the NHS for its simplicity, affordability, and versatility. The Bora can be used both indoors - helped by its narrow width and non-marking tyres, and outdoors, where the sprung suspension offers a comfortable ride. A kerb climber can be fitted to help negotiate obstacles, and the option for larger castor wheels improves obstacle climbing. An optional G-Trac gyro module can be installed, providing more accurate driving on uneven surfaces and slopes. For those after more advanced performance outdoors, Invacare's Kite is the next model "up" in the range, though its increased size makes it less manoeuvrable indoors.

The "Standard" seat on the Bora comes with 20° of powered tilt, and features a good range of adjustability to the seat size - however, it does not have the breadth of options that the Modulite seating system does, so is better suited to those without particular postural or pressure needs, and who won't be spending much of the day in their Bora.

While more expensive, the Modulite seating system is fully adjustable, allowing it to be set up to the width and depth of the user. A wide range of seating options are available, from basic tension-adjustable backrest upholstery, to Invacare's Matrx backrests that provide higher levels of postural support. Powered seating accessories such as lift, tilt and recline can all be fitted if required. The Bora is also notably one of a very small number of chairs that can get powered lift, tilt and recline as standard on the Motability scheme. Additionally, a Teens Modulite version is available for younger users, in seat widths of 12 - 15" and depths of 12 - 20", to accommodate the body shape of adolescents.

LiNX controls are simple to use for those new to powered wheelchairs, and can be easily expanded should your needs change - this includes attendant controls and specialist controls such as head or chin controls for those unable to use their hands. Other control options include a 3.5" touch-screen LCD remote, and USB charger ports to keep your mobile and other personal kit charged.

You can personalise your Bora with a choice of seven shroud colours, two frame colours, and three rim colours - a total of 42 colour combinations, allowing it to match your style. So far, crisp and clean white across all three areas (as pictured) is proving to be the most popular option.

The Bora has a weight capacity of 20.5 stone (130 kg) - for heavier users, the Spectra XTR2 is still available with Max seating that takes up to 25 stone. Fully crash-tested, the Bora can be used for occupied transport in a suitably adapted vehicle.

Ideal for those needing a reliable powerchair for primarily indoor use, but also some outdoors too, that offers advanced seating at an affordable price, the Bora is available for purchase, long-term hire and on the Motability scheme.
