Sunrise Medical Quickie Puma 40 Powerchair
- Choice of rear or front-wheel drive
- Available with lift, tilt and recline on Motability
- Sedeo Pro seating system
- Full Track Suspension System
The Puma 40 was formerly a Handicare product until Sunrise Medical took over their range of powerchairs and added it to their Quickie portfolio. It is a high-end configurable chair, offering improved outdoor performance over the Puma 20, and with all the customisation options you would expect from a chair of its class. Uniquely, the Puma 40 can be supplied in either rear or front-wheel drive.
Designed for excellent driving both indoors and out, the Puma 40 features the state-of-the-art Full Track Suspension System, which combined with the adjustable centre of gravity means a smooth and comfortable ride, while ensuring maximum stability and traction. Powerful motors and high torque keep the Puma 40 manoeuvrable, even at low speeds. Indoors, the compact design and low seat height further aid access. Available in your choice of rear-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, this can even be subsequently changed at a later date should your needs change. Speeds of up to 8 mph are available, as well as gyro-tracking to keep you on course. Your choice of electronics system is available, including advanced and powerful R-Net controls.
The award-winning Sedeo Pro seating system offers the perfect blend of functionality, comfort and design. The first seating solution to win the Good Industrial Design award, it is fully adjustable to your need, with a wide range of seat sizes to offer a perfect fit. Powered positioning is catered for with tilt of up to 45°, a 12" seat lift, electrically elevating leg rests and powered recline all available. Backrest and cushioning options ensure the comfort and support you need are provided, while a range of headrest, armrest and legrest options further complement this.
Clean design styling gives the Puma a far sleeker appearance than its competitors, and a choice of either anthracite grey or platinum white chassis colours plus four easily switchable accent colours allow you to add a personal touch to its appearance.
The Puma 40 is one of the best received rear-wheel drive powerchairs on the market, and is the standard against which others are compared. It has proven much more popular than Sunrise's rear-wheel drive Jive and Salsa models, while the successful Invacare Kite is its nearest equivalent from another manufacturer. It offers much better outdoor performance than the more basic Puma 20 and Invacare Bora models, and thus the Puma 40 is the chair of choice for people wanting a rear-wheel drive powerchair for extensive outdoor and indoor use.
If looking at the Puma 40 in front-wheel drive, it offers a high level of performance at a lower price point than the Quickie Jive F and the Quantum 4Front, although the 4Front offers some advanced powered seating options not available on the Puma.
Notably, the Puma 40 is also the only powerchair currently available on the Motability scheme that can come with all of powered lift, powered tilt and powered recline as part of the standard lease - other chairs require a significant up-front payment to get all three.
The Quickie Puma 40 has been replaced by the new Quickie Q500 R (rear wheel drive) and Quickie Q500 F (front wheel drive), and is now discontinued. We would recommend the Q500 series instead, as they are more modern powerchairs featuring improved suspension and styling.
