2019: What To Look Forward To

Invalid Date

2019 has now dawned upon us, bright and cold, and with it comes the usual New Year’s resolutions and guilt over Christmas indulgence. We’re looking forward to an exciting year at Wheelfreedom, and in this article round up some of the things to keep an eye out for in the coming months.

Last year was a stunner for new products, the highlight being Sunrise Medical’s all-new Q-series range of Quickie powerchairs. There’s no let-up this year, and we’re expecting further additions to the range – it’s not hard to see that the Q200 and Q300 are yet to appear…

There should be further developments in the field of transportable scooters and powered wheelchairs, as manufacturers try to iron out the compromises between weight savings and offering good performance. Forthcoming releases should include a remote-controlled folding scooter plus additions to the growing range of genuinely-transportable powered wheelchairs.

Elsewhere, the Motability scheme has listened to feedback, and will be more open to making alterations to customers’ equipment during their lease. This is particularly crucial for powerchair user who may have changing seating needs, which should now be accommodated.

Finally, we’re hoping to see progress continue with accessible technology, particularly some of the apps we previewed late last year on getting assistance with rail travel, and also checking accessibility info for nearby places. The more the technology catches on, the more helpful information will be available, and this should be the year it snowballs.
