The innovative nature of the new SMOOV One from Alber has been recognised with a Focus Gold award at the Baden-Württemberg International Design Awards 2019. These internationally renowned awards recognise forward-thinking concepts and outstanding product design, and the SMOOV One was a winner in the prestigious “Focus Open” category, winning the premium Focus Gold prize.
This comes as no surprise to us, as we’ve been extremely impressed by the SMOOV One since its launch earlier this year. It’s an incredibly useful bit of kit that constantly surprises with just how easy it is to use.
It attaches to most models of manual wheelchair – ours is currently fitted to a Quickie Xenon2 – and is a popular way of allowing you to travel further and faster. The jury at the awards gave the following commentary:
“A very neatly developed drive concept that provides motorised support for any wheelchair whenever the user wants. The small, lightweight unit is simple to attach and avoids any resemblance to an electric wheelchair. The controls are deliberately simple and the push-rims are still used for steering.”
