Happy Birthday Wheelfreedom!
04 Dec 2017
Last week saw Wheelfreedom turn 10 years old! The company was founded in 2007 by Giles Donald and Henry Cheape after experiencing, first hand, many problems when trying to hire a quality wheelchair. They were amazed to find that there was a lack of quality and convenient options on the market, with very high prices, poor customer service, old stock and long waiting lists, making the whole process difficult. This experience led to the birth of Wheelfreedom.
Since 2007 the business has continued to grow to now supply a range of specialised powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters, as well as manual wheelchairs. With a focus on customer service, we understand that a lot of potential customers have very little experience with mobility equipment, and also that it could be a difficult time in their life. This is why our emphasis has always been for our customers to have a reliable, easy to use service, which they know will provide a modern, well maintained product at a sensible price with a first-class customer service.
Over the last ten years we have outgrown three locations, expanded from two members of staff, in one small office in Battersea, to a working warehouse in Wandsworth, with nearly twenty staff members. This growth has seen Wheelfreedom go from supporting one wheelchair manufacturer, to supplying wheelchairs, mobility scooters and powerchairs from all the major manufacturers. This has been recognised by us becoming a specialist Invacare dealer, a Sunrise Medical ‘Elite Dealer’ and being a part of the Quantum ‘Stars Programme.’ We are also the leading London Motability dealer.
In the time since all of this, we have added further services, such as our Occupational Therapist assessment service, donated and provided equipment for charities, and run managed solutions for the health care sector. But most importantly we have managed to help over 30,000 customers with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and powerchairs, making their lives a little bit easier.
