Etac Prio Wheelchair

The Etac Prio is a unique multi-functional wheelchair that offers a dynamic pelvic support, setting it apart from traditional wheelchairs. This innovative feature deactivates while the user is resting and reactivates in the active position, providing optimal support and comfort.

Product Description

The Etac Prio Wheelchair is designed to optimize activity based on individual ability, offering a range of customizable support and comfort features. It's available in both transit and self-propelled versions, and its dynamic pelvic support is a stand out feature to improve sitting tolerance. The Etac Prio is known for its ability-based seating, providing surprising comfort while remaining well-balanced and easy to operate. It's a versatile and adaptable solution that can be customized to fit the user’s specific needs and requirements.

To aid pressure relief, the tilt angle for the Prio is 20° and the back support has an adjustable angulation to 30°. Combine this with elevated legrests to reach a relaxed position. The innovative backrest also loosens to provide comfort in recline and tightens for support in the upright position.

Etac designed the Prio to feature their Ability Based Seating system. All you need to know is the user´s hip width and all the other features like the lumbar angle, back support height and seat depth can be adjusted to fit their individual needs. The tension adjustable back straps and back wedges are two simple techniques used to create the correct shape. Active use of the seat tilt and recline function are important.

The Prio's dynamic pelvic support feature provides optimal support and variation for the user which adapts to both activity and rest. Reclining the back support will automatically reduce the strap tension and retighten when the back is brought to an upright position. The pelvic strap is height adjustable for precise setting but note that the dynamic posterior pelvic support cannot be combined with Prio electric tilt.

When bringing the wheelchair user to an upright position, the Comfort Tilt Lock will stop the tilt in a comfortable, pre-set slightly reclined position. To adjust the tilt angle further upright, just press the tilt lever again and give a little push. The Prio also offers a minimum seat height of 38 cm, making it easier for users to move by foot propulsion

You have a wide scope to customise the Prio. It's is highly adaptable, with various accessories available, including head supports, arm supports, a one-piece footplate and seat cushions, allowing for a perfect fit and enhanced comfort.

Our Verdict

There's nothing quite like the Etac Prio in our range so we're not surprise its versatility has led to a lot of interest from customers. The Etac Prio is a fully configurable wheelchair that features dynamic pelvic support and offers an electric tilt. It's perfect for those who spend long periods in their wheelchair. For a wider perspective you might want to test drive the Invacare Rea Azalea which provides high levels of postural support and comfort but lacks the electric tilt feature. For those with higher-end pressure relief needs, or who want to foot propel, the Invacare Rea Dahlia is a popular choice, as is Ki Mobility's equivalent, the Focus CR. These two models also feature manual (not electric) tilts so if that is key, the Etac Prio might have the edge.
