The "Black Edition" is notable for its outstanding style - far more impressive than the usual silver tubing and grey tyres seen on manual chairs. It features all-black framework, tyres, handrims and upholstery, as well as a stylish blue band down the centre of the backrest upholstery.
It is available as either a transit wheelchair, for a lighter overall weight, or self-propelled to promote greater independence for the wheelchair user. Both versions benefit from both attendant brakes and parking brakes, and feature ergonomic push handles.
The Easy 1 is simple to fold, with a half-folding backrest, removable legrests and quick-release wheels to further reduce the weight you have to lift. It will fit easily into the back of a car, and the aluminium frame keeps it lightweight. The Easy 1 is fully crash-tested, allowing it to be used for occupied transport when fastened down in an adapted vehicle.
Comfort is ensured thanks to the padded seat, and tension adjustable backrest upholstery. This allows the backrest straps to be individually adjusted to provide the optimum level of support for the wheelchair user's back. The upholstery is breathable, avoiding issues with overheating.
The seat is available in either a 16" or 18" width, and there is also an even wider 20" seat available on the transit version. This allows the Easy 1 to provide a good fit for those of regular sizes.
Features and Options
Other premium features include flip-back armrests to aid side transfers. A seat belt helps to keep the wheelchair user secure, and a convenient storage pocket at the back can be used for carrying personal belongings. Step tubes on the back of the frame assist the attendant when going up kerbs.
Optional extras include elevating leg rests for either side, plus anti-tip tubes - ideal when self-propelling outdoors unaccompanied. Greencare's memory foam cushion is also available; other third-party cushions can also be fitted.
The Easy 1 isn't the lightest wheelchair out there - the Ergo Lite wins that crown, and it doesn't offer the same precision fit as the Action 3NG. However, it sits in between the two, with a great host of premium features and head-turning style, offering good value for the features available.
