Folding frame
The compact frame of the 2GX folds with a fluid, easy to use mechanism. Side to side folding minimises the folded width, and maximises your ease of transportation. The snap-in seat saddles lock the cross tubes in place when unfolded, helping the 2GX achieve more rigid performance - unlike the flexing you can traditionally feel from cross-braces.
The aerospace titanium frame provides a smoother ride thanks to its vibration dampening properties. With the strongest strength-to weight ratio of any metal on earth, it is highly durable, resulting in a lighter chair than aluminium equivalents - that's unnecessary weight you no longer have to propel around.
Modular design
The modular design of the 2GX facilitates high levels of adjustability. This allows for third party seating systems to be added, including subsequent to the chair being built. Most notably, the wheelchair can be switched between having a fixed and swing-away front end; not something you will find on any other model. Adjustable seat width and depth are also available - unprecedented on a performance chair of this level.
The Tru-Fit system incorporates an infinite adjustment mechanism - allowing fine tuning rather than being limited to a series of pre-set holes. By clamping components directly onto the frame, the design eliminates frame-weakening holes in the tubing that are one of the main stress points on other wheelchairs.
Seating and Options
The 2GX can be fully configured to match your seating and lifestyle needs. Built in your size, there are a range of seating and backrest options to maximise your comfort. Roho backrests can be fitted for those requiring higher levels of postural support, and third-party seating can also be attached.
As with any active chair, you can customise the options and components, including castors, wheels, handrims, tyres, push-handles, sideguards, footrests and more.
Style
TiLite chairs turn heads, and the 2GX is no exception. The sleek titanium frame really stands out, and can have a tattooed design on it to make your chair truly unique. Alternatively there are a range of frame colours to select from, including matte, gloss and metallic ones. Our demo 2GX is in "Electric Plum" for a dark, purple look.
Our Verdict
The 2GX is expensive for a folding chair - above Kuschall's flagship Champion, and on a level with Quickie's popular Xenon2. However, the titanium frame (and its stylish finishes) offer something different for the 2GX, particularly for its strength and vibration dampening. For those that need this smoothness of ride it offers an integrated way of achieving this; an alternative to fitting an add-on like Loopwheels to your chair. The obvious model to compare it against is Ki's titanium-framed folding Catalyst 5Ti.
