Karma Leon F Kameleon

Karma's Leon F Kameleon is a paediatric powered wheelchair aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 12. It offers a safe and supportive means for children to independently move themselves around, and features a unique biometric seating system that can be adjusted to grow with your child.

Product Description

Seating

The Kameleon features a distinctive and unique back support, made up of multiple contoured panels that can each be adjusted independently to conform to your child's back as they grow. For those needing further postural support, headrests, knee and hip supports are available, and the seat pan can be configured to accommodate complex postural requirements.. The seat itself is designed to support your child's legs in a comfortable and natural position.

Powered tilt, lift, recline and elevating legrests are all available as upgrades on the Kameleon - helping to keep your child comfortable, relieving pressure, and aiding in their interaction with the environment around them.

Drive Base

The Leon F Kameleon features front wheel drive, which performs well both indoors and out, as well as letting children get close in to their environment. A choice of speeds are available, up to a maximum of 8 mph - although realistically most children will be better off at a slower speed. A gyro upgrade is available that makes the Kameleon easier to drive, helping it track truly in a straight line even over cambers and uneven ground.

Good suspension and chunky tyres keep your child in comfort, even when tackling some of the challenging terrain children enjoy outdoors. and a choice of solid or pneumatic tyres are available.

Standard controls are the simple to use VR2 system, but an upgrade to R-Net is available if desired, which allows for control of multiple powered seating functions, as well as the option for special controls should they be needed.

Our Verdict

Karma's Kameleon is a smartly designed paediatric wheelchair without any compromises. It offers good performance, uniquely adaptable seating, and a full range of powered seating functions. It's also a good-looking, modern chair - we think the yellow colour is particularly striking, but red, blue and black are also available as alternatives. The attention to detail even extends to a rear storage basket to transport personal belongings such as a school bag.

We highly recommend giving the Kameleon a go, and it's worth trying alongside Sunrise Medical's Zippie Q300 M Mini, and Quantum's Edge 3 Stretto, which are other market-leading paediatric powered wheelchairs.
