Tilt in Space
The Quickie Iris Wheelchair features patented intelligent tilt in space that rotates around the wheelchair user's centre of gravity, resulting in a smooth tilting motion and the shortest possible wheelbase. Two options are available for the rockers - the standard 55° range of tilt, or a lightweight shortened rocker with a 40° range for when the higher degrees of tilt are not necessary. In both cases, the Iris can be built with a range 5° either way, depending on whether you want some forwards tilt for transfers, or slightly higher levels of rear tilt.
A foot release is available for the tilt mechanism that reduces the need for messy cables. Hand operated tilt is also available, and the cables are neatly clipped to the frame to limit interference.
Configurable Seating
The Iris can accommodate those with the most complex of seating needs. The highly-adjustable seat can be set up to your precise size, and has an extensive array of options to customise it - for example there are dozens of options for the legrests alone.
We've found that the Iris is the ideal base for mounting specialist seating systems and positioning options, whether that be Sunrise's JAY range or third party products. We can assess for and supply this specialist seating, resulting in a chair that is comfortable and supportive for use throughout the day, and which will suit for years thanks to its adjustability.
Other Options
Other aspects of the Quickie Iris can be configured, including both transit and self-propelling wheels, one-arm drive, tray tables, and foot-operated attendant brakes.
The modern design of the Iris's frame is far removed from the old-fashioned clinical look of many tilt in space wheelchairs. Its clean curves are modern and fresh, and the chassis is available in a wide range of colours and patterns.
Our Verdict
Quickie's Iris is a well-known market-leading tilt in space wheelchair, an outstanding product for people with complex seating requirements. Its chief competitor is Ki Mobility's Focus, which offers similar features and customisation, and is worth considering too.
