Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens

The Teens version of the Salsa M2 Mini, is designed for teenagers and particularly slender adults, a group few other wheelchair manufacturers cater too. It offers the narrow seat width of the Zippie children's size Salsa with the seat depth and legrest length of the adult version. With an exceptionally narrow 52 cm powerbase and outstanding all-wheel independent suspension, it is an impressive performer both indoors and out.

Product Description

The Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens has now been replaced with the Quickie Q300 M Mini Teens.

Seating

The Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens' seat width can be adjusted from 12 inches to 16 inches, allowing it to cater for those with narrow bodies. The adjustability means it can be set to fit perfectly, rather than taking a "one size fits all" approach found on more basic wheelchairs. This also allows future adjustments to be made, so the wheelchair can adapt to your needs over time. Featuring seat depths of 16 - 20 inches and longer footrests than those found on the children's variant, the teens version can cater to a wide range of heights, making it ideal for growing teenagers and adults that are too slim for an adult chair.

For those with more specialist needs, a vast range of seating options are available with the Salsa, including comfort cushioning, backrests, headrests, legrests and lateral supports. Additionally, various powered postural additions can be fitted to the Salsa, including powered lift, powered tilt, powered recline and powered elevating leg rests.

Power base

Significantly narrower than standard powered wheelchairs, the Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens is much easier to manoeuvre as a result, also making it simpler to fit into wheelchair adapted vehicles. Mid-wheel drive further complements the manoeuvrability, allowing the powerchair to turn on the spot, making it the best Indoor/Outdoor powerchair on the market for negotiating tight turns and narrow doors.

The Salsa M2 Mini is a good outdoor performer, its suspension offering a smooth ride over uneven terrain, as well as featuring improved ground clearance. Anti-pitch technology eliminates the risk of pitching on slopes, keeping the wheelchair user safe on slopes of up to 8°. While some more basic mid-wheel drive powerchairs may struggle on uneven surfaces and ramps, the Salsa's all-wheel independent suspension allows it to negotiate them with ease. A range of 15.5 miles means that the Salsa should never be without power, even when tackling rough terrain. Offered as standard with 4 mph motors, the speed, acceleration and turning can be programmed lower if required.

The Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens is also fully crash tested making it safe to use for occupied transport in a suitably adapted vehicle.

Our Verdict

The Zippie Salsa M2 Mini Teens is a top of the range paediatric wheelchair that is equally at home both indoors and outdoors. The adjustable seating sets it apart from its competitors, and makes it an ideal option for teenagers and slim adults who might otherwise struggle to find a wheelchair that offers a perfect fit.

We would also recommend considering Quantum's Edge 3 Stretto, which is the same width and has some more advanced seating options available.

Prescriptive paediatric powerchairs such as this are built to order following an assessment with one of our Prescriptive Assessors. They are available with a wide range of customisation options, including powered seating functions and control and safety upgrades, and these can affect the price - our assessors will run through all the options at your assessment. As a general guideline, opting for multiple powered seating functions can add significantly to the cost of the wheelchair; however it is possible to get a fully functioning and desirable chair at the base price!

Paediatric powered wheelchairs will often qualify for zero-rated VAT. If the child using the wheelchair has a permanent disability, terminal illness or chronic sickness then they will be eligible for 0% VAT. Our Prescriptive Assessors will be able to answer any questions you may have about VAT.
