Progeo Ego Carbon

The Ego Carbon is the ultimate folding carbon fibre wheelchair, featuring the Ego's unique crossbar for a compact folding design yet the ride experience of a rigid wheelchair.

Product Description

Carbon Frame

The Ego Carbon features a fully carbon fibre frame, for the lightest possible version of the Ego. Progeo are experts in carbon wheelchairs, having made a wide range of carbon fibre models over several years, while other manufacturers make at most one or two models. Despite being carbon fibre, the Ego Carbon still has a good level of adjustability to the frame, including rear seat height, centre of gravity, backrest position, and footrest height - the best of both worlds.

Folding Frame, Rigid Ride

The unique Syncro Motion Folding Axle of the Ego range features on the Ego Carbon, which is completely different to a typical folding wheelchair's crossbrace. Instead, the Ego features a simple to operate horizontal folding mechanism that still reduces to Ego to a compact size when folded, but also locks in place when unfolded. This means there is none of the "flex" to the frame that you will experience in a traditional folding wheelchair - the Ego Carbon has the same stiff ride as a rigid wheelchair would.

Personalisation

The Ego Carbon is a stylish wheelchair with a matt carbon finish to the frame. A choice from several accent colours to the castor forks and wheels lets you personalise your Ego to match your style - from a moody all-black to a striking sporty finish like the pictured lime green.

It's not just the looks of the Ego Carbon that can be customised - every aspect of the wheelchair can be configured to meet your lifestyle, performance and budget requirements. This includes rear wheels and castors, handrims and push handles, and every part of the seating.

Our Verdict

The Ego Carbon is the ultimate model in the Ego range - marginally lighter than the welded aluminium Ego Custom, it manages this whilst maintaining the adjustability of the regular Ego. The closest competitor would be Quickie's carbon-framed Krypton F, which features a more traditional folding mechanism but is lighter.
